Approach
With compassion, humor and insight, I connect with parents on their walk through the demanding parenting years. Through a relationship-based approach using a combination of mentoring, coaching and counseling, I provide perspective and help parents enrich their experience and as they navigate this demanding role. My work covers the broad territory beyond friendly advice, but short of therapy.
I help parents think about their goals and strategies as parents. Further, I help them understand their childrens’ behavior from a developmental viewpoint within the context of the family. I offer suggestions and alternative strategies as well as support in carrying new strategies forward.
Parents can access my services for either one time consultations or a more extensive consultation as follows.
A traditional consultation includes a meeting with parents in my office followed by a home visit which typically takes place between dinner-time and bedtime.
The home visit is followed up by a feedback session in my office and a few follow-up sessions, as needed, to carry new strategies forward. Follow up meetings may be face to face or by established phone appointments.
My expectation is that parents can rely on me over the years as their children develop.
