Too bad children don't come with instructions!
Parenting strikes at something deep within us and sometimes we aren't
prepared for the intensity of our feelings in this relationship.
There are often times as children grow that are hard or confusing.
Many parents feel uncertain about how to work with a challenging
stage in their child's life. Some are ambivalent about their
authority and the need to set limits. Other parents - living under the same roof or not- disagree with each other about how to manage a child's challenging behavior. Navigating the myriad of decisions and choices can be overwhelming.
I offer a place for parents to discuss and reflect on their concerns and to
receive an unbiased, professional viewpoint. I offer suggestions and support
as parents move forward.
Once a family evaluation is completed (which includes a home visit), I
am available for phone or in-person consultation. Often parents check in
with me several times a year for help sorting out issues as they arise.
I become part of their parenting team.
Many families have on-going challenges and concerns that can benefit from the opinion of a caring and informed outside person. These families are the ones
that make up my consultation and mentoring practice.
I offer a friendly, professional perspective that has strong roots from
having raised three- now young adult- kids of my own.
Over the years, I've helped many of my friends with their real-kid
concerns. Now I offer this hands-on, real life support to you and your
family.
